Under‑mounted Azimuth Thruster

Pod-type azimuth thruster mounted beneath the hull, with permanent magnet motor, 360° steering and a 7° downward thrust angle; for tugs, OSVs, cruise ships and DP vessels.

Description

The Under-mounted Azimuth Thruster is a pod-type propulsion and steering unit installed entirely beneath the hull. It integrates propeller, transmission, steering mechanism and electric motor in one streamlined unit that rotates 360° about its vertical axis, replacing a conventional propeller and rudder.

Construction

  • Underwater propeller, vertical azimuth steering gear, permanent magnet motor
  • Sealed lubrication system with environmentally friendly lubrication and sealing
  • Streamlined pod to reduce hydrodynamic resistance
  • Modular design for installation and maintenance without major hull modification

Key features

  • 7° downward thrust angle keeps the propeller jet clear of the hull
  • Fine thrust adjustment and precise azimuth positioning for low-speed maneuvering and dynamic positioning
  • Saves internal hull space and keeps deck areas free

Applications

  • Tugs and rescue/towing vessels
  • Offshore support vessels, wind farm maintenance vessels, drilling and underwater operation ships
  • Cargo and cruise ships needing precise berthing
