Electric Azimuth Propulsion

Electric azimuth propulsion systems in pull open and push ducted versions with FP or CP propellers, supplied as complete systems with tunnel thrusters, controls, automation and drives.

Description

Brunvoll Electric Azimuth Propulsion covers azimuth propulsion units for vessels that need extensive manoeuvring and positioning during their main working conditions. The range includes pull open and push ducted versions with fixed-pitch (FP) or controllable-pitch (CP) propellers, and Brunvoll supplies complete systems including propulsion units, tunnel thrusters, controls, automation and drives.

Configurations

  • Azimuth pull open propellers: e.g. two azimuth CPP pulling thrusters in a battery-electric system on a double-ended ferry, with a diesel genset for battery charging and redundancy. The thruster can be driven by a permanent magnet motor powered from a battery pack normally charged by shore connection.
  • Azimuth push ducted propellers: heavy-duty propulsion for efficient bollard pull in towing or pushing operations.
  • Motor starting options: direct on-line (DOL), star-delta, auto-transformer, electronic soft starter or frequency converter (6-pulse, 12/24-pulse or active front end); the motor is started with the propeller in zero pitch.

Applications

  • Coastal ferries, offshore support vessels and vessels combining transit and port mooring (pull open)
  • Cable laying vessels, SOVs, tugs and vessels combining transit and DP operations (push ducted)
