Well-in Type Azimuth Thruster

Azimuth thruster installed in a hull well with its mounting plate above the waterline, allowing service afloat. Z-type bevel gear drive, hydraulic worm-gear 360° steering, diesel or electric input.

Description

The Well-in Type Azimuth Thruster is an integrated propulsion and steering unit mounted in a hull well, with the top mounting plate above the waterline. This allows installation, inspection and maintenance while the vessel is afloat and avoids protruding external structures.

Construction

  • Upper fixed mounting base, rotating transmission assembly and underwater propeller unit
  • Z-type transmission: horizontal input shaft to upper bevel gear, vertical shaft to lower bevel gear and propeller
  • Independent hydraulic worm-gear steering drive for continuous 360° rotation
  • Well height and stem length adjustable to the vessel design
  • Corrosion-resistant marine alloy with anti-rust and anti-fouling coatings on underwater parts
  • Monitoring of transmission temperature, speed and thrust output for early fault warning

Key features

  • Diesel engine or electric motor input
  • Replaces propeller and rudder; thrust in any direction for berthing without tugs
  • Vibration-reducing modular design

Applications

  • Inland and coastal cargo and passenger ships
  • Dredgers, pile driving vessels and crane ships
  • Survey and research vessels, platform supply ships
