Brunvoll L- and Z-drive azimuth thrusters with push ducted propellers (AUP/AWP 63–135, 400–4,600 kW) for heavy-duty operation, high bollard pull and low drag; weld-in or well-mounted.
Description
The Brunvoll Azimuth Thruster with Push Ducted Propellers is built for heavy-duty operations, with emphasis on maximum bollard pull, hydrodynamic and total energy efficiency, low drag and good manoeuvrability.

- Non-polluting sealing solutions for Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EAL); limited amounts of EAL required
- Design complies with US EPA Vessel General Permit (VGP)
Nozzle options
- Ducted propeller gives up to 30% higher thrust at low speeds than an open propeller
- Brunvoll DL1 "Dragless" nozzle: bollard pull capability and high efficiency at higher vessel speeds
- Brunvoll HE nozzle: for high bollard pull requirements and strong astern performance
- 19A nozzle: strong overall performance and high bollard pull for a wide range of vessels
- 37 nozzle: equal performance in both flow directions, typically for DP and astern operations

- Electric motor starting options: direct on-line (DOL), star-delta (approx. 60% lower in-rush current than DOL), auto-transformer (typically 50–70% motor voltage at start), electronic soft starter, or frequency converter (6-pulse, 12/24-pulse or Active Front End); motor started with propeller in zero pitch position
