Brunvoll perpendicular twin-in single-out (PTS) gearboxes taking power from two vertically mounted electric motors to one output shaft; short build length, 2x 700 to 2x 10,000 kW.
Description
The Brunvoll Perpendicular Twin-In Single-Out (PTS) gearbox takes power from two electric motors positioned vertically above the gearbox and delivers it to a single output shaft. Its short building length compared with arrangements with the motors in front saves considerable longitudinal space, for example allowing the engine room bulkhead to be moved aft for more cargo.
