Tunnel Thruster

Brunvoll Tunnel Thrusters are delivered factory complete with tunnel section and are used for dynamic positioning and manoeuvring. Standard and customised designs are developed together with the yard's hull design team.

Configurations

• L-drive and Z-drive versions
• Electric motor on bed frame in vertical or tilted position, or on a separate foundation with vertical intermediate shaft
• Controllable pitch or fixed pitch propeller
• Trunk-mounted version: unit in a trunk with bolt-in tank top plate, heavy steel structure, bottom guiding and conical stud support; removable for service without dry-docking

Key features

• Replaceable propeller blade bearing liners; various blade materials and designs
• Thruster gearbox can be removed from the tunnel with propeller blades in place
• Tunnel of thick steel plate with ring stiffeners and modular motor foundation
• Advanced multiple sealing system for the propeller shaft; EAL-compatible non-polluting seals
• Design complies with US EPA Vessel General Permit (VGP)

• Extra landing bars adapted to tank top and hull frames
• Extra ring stiffeners adapted to centre girder
