Mega-Guard Propulsion Control System

The Mega-Guard Propulsion Control System (PCS) from Praxis Automation Technology provides remote control of engines and thrusters across a wide range of propulsion configurations. It includes remote control, engine safety, RPM/pitch indication, telegraph and electronic governor functions, and supports steerable (azimuth) thrusters.

Key features

• Modular design for all ship types; issues thrust (RPM and/or pitch) setpoints and controls starting, stopping and reversing
• Extendable with Mega-Guard electric propulsion motors, electric steerable PODs and energy storage for full electric and hybrid propulsion
• Ethernet loop between operator panels and controller for redundancy; communication with thrusters and engines via Ethernet and serial protocols

System components

• Control levers for bridge, bridge wings and ECR: black-coated aluminium or chrome, symmetric or non-symmetric, single or dual; 360° steering lever for steerable thrusters; optional electric shaft to synchronise levers
• Operator panels with built-in PLC, I/O and graphics: 5.7" touchscreen (commercial ships), 2.5" touchscreen with integrated lever (yachts and small ships), 8" touchscreen (navy ships and mega yachts); full-glass versions for yachts
• PCS controller: compact PLC with one or two I/O modules on TS35 DIN rail; two controllers for steerable thrusters (thrust and steering)
• Options: triple power supply with distribution, non follow-up control, RPM/pitch/steering indication, emergency telegraph
