GreenBattery Container

Containerised marine battery system in a 20 ft container: AC version (690/440 VAC, up to 1 MW, 2 MWh) or DC version (960 VDC, up to 1250 A, 2.4 MWh), built to battery-room class rules.

Description

The Mega-Guard GreenBattery Container from Praxis Automation Technology is an electric energy storage system for installation on board ships. It can replace a diesel generator where additional or redundant power is needed (e.g. on DP2 vessels) and enables emission-free sailing on electrically propelled ships.

Configurations

  • AC version: three-phase 690 VAC or 440 VAC connection, acting as a generator of up to 1 MW during discharge; up to 2 MWh in a standard 20 ft container
  • DC version: 960 VDC with up to 1250 A charging/discharging current; up to 2.4 MWh in a standard 20 ft container

Key features

  • Complies with class rules for shipboard battery rooms, including fire detection and extinguishing, fire blocking and air conditioning
  • Battery compartment with GreenRacks holding up to 8 GreenBatteries each; strings of 10 batteries wired to a GreenBMS
  • Middle service section for installing or exchanging batteries
  • AC version adds a separate compartment with a GreenInverter and L-C-transformer to form the 690/440 VAC grid
  • Temperature regulated to 22 °C via external chilled/heated water connection; optional external air-to-water heat pump
