Rudder Propeller

Z-drive rudder propeller with 360° azimuth rotation, combining propulsion and steering; bevel gear transmission, well-type or external suspension mounting, for tugs, ferries, OSVs and yachts.

Description

The Rudder Propeller (also called azimuth thruster or Z-type propeller) combines propulsion and steering in a single unit, eliminating a separate rudder. Power from the main engine or motor runs through a vertical drive shaft and bevel gears to the propeller, while a swivel mechanism rotates the underwater unit through 360°.

Construction

  • Upper power transmission housing above the waterline for easier maintenance
  • Vertical drive shaft, enclosed bevel gear assembly and rotary support
  • Streamlined pod and propeller; high-strength marine alloy components
  • Hydraulic or electric steering control

Configurations

  • Customizable propeller diameter and power
  • Well-type or external suspension installation
  • High-power and retractable versions for naval and polar vessels

Applications

  • Tugboats for towing, berthing and rescue
  • Passenger ferries, offshore supply vessels, workboats and yachts
  • Offshore wind maintenance and drilling supply vessels on DP
  • Inland, coastal and deep-sea service
