Tapered and Clamp-Type Shaft Couplings
Teignbridge precision-machined tapered and clamp-type propeller shaft couplings made to fit the output flange of any gearbox. Clamp couplings allow shaft length adjustment at installation and have been supplied for installations above 400 bhp.
Description
Teignbridge supplies propeller shaft couplings in tapered and clamp types, made to fit the output flange of any gearbox.
Tapered couplings
- Machined to close tolerances for concentricity and flange squareness
- When supplied with shafting, the coupling taper is bedded to the shaft at the factory to at least 70% contact (checked with engineers' blue), and the key and keyway fit is inspected
- When a coupling is supplied on its own, the taper must be checked and scraped on site to at least 70% contact, and the key fit inspected
Clamp-type couplings
- Allow the shaft length to be adjusted at installation, so the builder can make small changes to engine and propeller positions
- Supplied for installations above 400 bhp
