Description
RENK shaft generator solutions recover electrical energy from the main propulsion engine to cut fuel consumption and emissions. Because a conventional shaft generator at the stern propeller shaft is not possible on every ship, particularly retrofits, RENK offers several technologies and designs a package to suit the vessel.
Product options
- IFPS® – rugged, compact front-end solution connected to the main engine crankshaft; power supply up to 2.5 MW; suitable for new builds and existing ships
- Tunnel gear – uses the propeller shaft and, via gear stages, provides a PTO solution; compact design with the option to upgrade to PTI
- MARHY – complete PTO/PTI solution combining a shaft generator with a hybrid propulsion system, adding a second drive system
