Direct Drive Electric Propulsion System
Gearless electric propulsion with a high-torque permanent-magnet motor coupled directly to the propeller shaft, for full-electric, hybrid and retrofit installations on cargo ships, yachts, ferries, offshore and fishing vessels.
Description
The Berg Propulsion Direct Drive Electric Propulsion System removes the gearbox and couples a large, high-torque permanent-magnet (PM) motor directly to the propeller shaft. This reduces mechanical losses, noise and vibration and creates a compact unit with simplified installation. It was developed together with The Switch.
