Berg Propulsion Equipment
Controllable Pitch Propeller
Controllable pitch propeller systems with hydrodynamically optimised blades, oil-circulating hub with moisture monitoring and integration with DynamicDrive and OpWind fuel optimisation; custom-designed for cargo, tug, ferry and yacht applications.
Description
The Berg Propulsion Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) continuously adjusts blade pitch to match speed, load and manoeuvring needs, keeping the main engine at optimal load and giving precise thrust control without changing engine speed. Each system is tailored to the vessel, from propeller size and blade design to gearbox ratios and control functionality.
Key features
- Hydrodynamically optimised blades for efficiency across operating conditions
- Fine thrust control for docking, low-speed navigation, DP and fast reversing
- Lower thrust available during manoeuvres than FPPs limited by minimum engine rpm
- Hub with oil-circulating system and integrated moisture monitoring for early fault detection
- Blade design that minimises noise and vibration
- Feathering capability and integration with Berg DynamicDrive and OpWind automatic fuel-optimisation functions
Applications
- Cargo and container ships
- Tugs and offshore vessels
- Ferries and RoPax vessels
- Yachts and expedition ships
