WinGD X-DF-A Ammonia-Fuelled Engines
WinGD X-DF-A high-pressure two-stroke engines for carbon-free ammonia, with diesel-mode capability, common-rail pilot injection, IMO Tier II without aftertreatment and Tier III with HP SCR.
Description
WinGD X-DF-A is a two-stroke main engine platform designed for carbon-free ammonia fuel for deep-sea vessels, with first engines delivered in 2025. It uses a high-pressure injection concept familiar from WinGD's diesel X-Engines and offers comparable performance in both ammonia and diesel mode.

- Low pilot fuel requirement, precisely controlled through common-rail injection
- IMO Tier II NOx compliant in both modes without exhaust aftertreatment
- IMO Tier III in both modes with a high-pressure SCR upstream of the turbochargers, installed off-engine or on-engine (iSCR, single-turbocharger engines only)
- Approvals in Principle from multiple class societies for safe ammonia operation
- Minimum extra CAPEX; high efficiency in both fuel modes
- Can be delivered ready for LPG and later adapted to ammonia with minor modification

Tankers, container vessels, bulk carriers, multipurpose vessels, gas carriers, PCTCs and VLACs.
