PTI Boost
PTI Boost system: the shaft generator acts as a motor via WE Drive to add torque alongside the main engine for ice or high bollard pull, enabling a low-load-optimised main engine.
Description
WE Tech PTI Boost (Solution Three) uses the shaft generator as an electric motor, driven by the WE Drive® in Power Take In (PTI) mode, to add torque to the propeller alongside the main engine. Boost power is taken from the auxiliary generators in demanding situations such as high bollard pull or sailing in ice, so the main engine can be sized and optimised for normal-condition propulsion power.
