PTI Take Me Home system: the shaft generator runs as a motor via WE Drive to provide auxiliary propulsion and safe return to port if the main engine is out of operation.

Description

WE Tech PTI Take Me Home (Solution Two) allows the shaft generator to operate as an electric motor, providing an Auxiliary Propulsion Drive (APD) when the main engine is out of operation. Running the WE Drive® in Power Take In (PTI) mode converts auxiliary engine power to propulsion power, using Active Front End (AFE) drive technology. This gives safe return to port – for example "take me home" propulsion for product tankers – without an additional APD such as a retractable bow thruster.

The solution also includes all functionality of Solution One (PTO variable speed shaft generator) for energy-efficient operation of direct-driven propulsion with a shaft generator.
