Becker Energy Saving Devices and Performance Package

Becker Mewis Duct and Twisted Fin energy-saving devices, alone or combined with a Becker rudder as the Performance Package; savings of up to 10% (tankers, bulkers) and up to 4% (container ships).

Description

Becker Energy Saving Devices comprise the Becker Mewis Duct® and the Becker Twisted Fin®, pre-propeller devices that improve propulsion efficiency and reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Combined with a Becker rudder they form the Becker Performance Package. They can be fitted at newbuilding or as a retrofit during regular dry docks without removing the propeller.

Devices

  • Becker Mewis Duct® – optimises propeller inflow; for slow-speed, full-form ships such as tankers and bulk carriers.
  • Becker Twisted Fin® – for slender hulls and/or higher speeds; reduces energy consumption and vibration.
  • Becker Performance Package – a Mewis Duct or Twisted Fin harmonised by CFD with a Becker Flap, Twist or Schilling® rudder; suitable for almost every hull design and propeller type.
