Becker Marine Systems Spare Part

Becker Nozzle

Kort-type propeller nozzle in fixed and steerable versions for higher bollard pull, better DP performance and manoeuvrability on tugs, AHTS, offshore, fishing and research vessels.

Description

The Becker Nozzle is a propeller nozzle developed from the Kort nozzle concept, available as the Becker Fixed Nozzle and the Becker Steerable Nozzle. It improves manoeuvrability and efficiency, especially at slow speeds and in demanding conditions, and simplifies the aft ship arrangement, giving designers more freedom in propeller positioning.

Versions

  • Fixed Nozzle – typically combined with a Becker Flap Rudder; profile optimised for highly loaded propellers to increase bollard pull on AHTS vessels, tugs and fishing boats.
  • Steerable Nozzle – profile adapted for similar performance when rotated; replaces a separate rudder and generates stronger lateral forces at all speeds, suited to DP operation. Compatible with all standard ±35° steering gears.

Key features

  • Improved Dynamic Positioning performance
  • Increased bollard pull
  • Simplified aft ship arrangement and construction
  • Reduced stern thruster power requirement for station keeping
  • Optional heel pintle and heel pintle bearing for smaller vessels

Applications

  • Offshore and work vessels
  • Fishing vessels
  • Research vessels
