Alfa Laval MAB 103 Separator

Alfa Laval MAB 103 is a solids-retaining centrifugal separator that can operate as a purifier or clarifier. It is used for mineral oils, low-viscosity fuel oils (GO/MDO), engine oils, lubricating oils and synthetic oils in industrial applications.

• Rated capacity: 1,300 l/h (343 gal/h)
• Diesel oil (13 cSt/40°C): max 900 l/h (238 gal/h)
• Designation MAB 103B-24: MA = marine mineral oil; B = solid bowl; 1 = original design (no sludge basket); 03 = size; B = open oil and water outlets; 2 = purifier or clarifier parts; 4 = flanged horizontal electric motor

Design

• Frame with horizontal drive shaft, friction clutch and brake, worm gear in an oil bath, and vertical bowl spindle
• Hinged frame hood for access to the solid-wall disc-type bowl
• Built-in feed and discharge pump
• Purifier: top disc with neck and gravity disc (sized per the Alfa Laval manual) to set the water seal; heavy and light phases leave by separate outlets
• Clarifier: discharge collar and top disc without neck; single liquid outlet
• Solids collect on the bowl wall and are removed manually after stopping the separator

Standard scope of supply

• Dirty oil inlet device; clean oil outlet with sight glass; water outlet spout
• Liquid seal water inlet with hose nipple, needle valve and sight glass
• Set of gravity discs and one extra bowl disc for disc stack pressure adjustment
• Revolution indicator, resilient mounts and standard spare parts set

Maintenance intervals

• Oil change: every 1,500 hours or at least once a year
• Intermediate service: every 3 months / 2,000 operating hours (bowl, inlet and outlet overhaul; seals and gaskets replaced)
• Major service: every 12 months / 8,000 operating hours (complete overhaul; seals and bearings in the bottom part replaced)
