Description
Ahead Sanitation Systems supplies the AHEAD TANK, a biological aerobic Type II marine sanitation device (MSD) for sewage treatment on commercial vessels. Naturally occurring bacteria, supplied with oxygen, break down the solids, and a mild disinfectant is added before discharge. No moving parts contact the sewage. Separator Spares & Equipment is an authorized distributor, also supplying consumables, toilets, discharge pumps, control panels and blowers.
Treatment stages
- Aeration: bacteria digest the sewage, reducing quantity and size of solids
- Clarification: bacterial floc settles out, leaving clean water
- Chlorination: treated water is disinfected before gravity discharge overboard or to a holding tank
Flow between chambers is by direct displacement, so no internal sewage pumps are needed.
Construction
- Rotomolded LLPE polyethylene tank with integral multi-chamber structure
- Lightweight, will not rust or corrode; resistant to harsh chemicals and UV

- USCG certified to 33 CFR 159.16 Subpart C, 159.53(b) Type II, 159.97 (inspected vessels)
- Approved under IMO Resolution MEPC.2(VI), MARPOL Annex IV Regulation 4/1.1
