Transom Mounted Azimuth Thrusters

Transom-mounted azimuth thruster on a suspension frame that tilts and swivels up for maintenance; L-drive (mainly electric, depth adjustable) or Z-drive (inboard engine or horizontal motor) for pusher tugs, ferries and workboats.

Description

The Hydromaster Transom Mounted Azimuth Thruster is mounted on a suspension frame fixed to the vessel's transom, combining inboard power with outboard flexibility. The thruster unit can be tilted and swivelled upwards for inspection and maintenance, even in confined or shallow areas.

Configurations

  • L-drive: primarily electric; the standard for transom-mounted units, common on electric pusher tugs and hybrid vessels. Fully tiltable and depth adjustable for varying drafts and shallow water.
  • Z-drive: driven by an inboard engine or horizontal electric motor; the steady bracket has an automated locking system for secure positioning and quick release without manual intervention.

Key features

  • Transom-mounted frame for outboard installation
  • Tiltable for maintenance access
  • Depth adjustable (L-drive)
  • Optional self-locking steady bracket
  • Electric drive options for zero-emission vessels
  • Compact, low-maintenance design

Applications

  • Inland and river ferries
  • Workboats, tugs and pusher tugs
  • Patrol and survey craft
  • Hybrid or electric vessels
  • Shallow-draft and modular platforms
