Torqeedo Deep Blue High-Capacity Batteries

Torqeedo Deep Blue high-capacity marine lithium batteries: Deep Blue Battery 80 (LFP, 79.2 kWh, cell-to-pack) and Deep Blue Battery 40 (LiNMC, 38.0 kWh, BMW i3 technology), IP67 with automotive-grade BMS.

Description

Torqeedo Deep Blue batteries are the high-capacity lithium batteries for Torqeedo's Deep Blue electric and hybrid propulsion systems. Two chemistries are offered: LFP for long life and safety in permanently installed systems, and LiNMC for maximum energy density and discharge rate in weight-sensitive applications.

Deep Blue Battery 80

  • Lithium iron phosphate (LFP), 79.2 kWh
  • Cell-to-pack architecture: cells integrated directly into the pack without intermediate modules, doubling energy storage in a smaller footprint
  • Constant power output with flat voltage curve; high thermal-runaway threshold and low reactivity
  • Ten-year capacity warranty for recreational and commercial use (at least 4,000 cycles @ 75% DoD, 3,750 cycles @ 80% DoD or 3,000 cycles @ 100% DoD, at 25°C)
  • Damping kit available for high-shock applications

Deep Blue Battery 40

  • LiNMC, 38.0 kWh, based on BMW i3 automotive battery technology
  • Prismatic Samsung SDI cells in a robust aluminium housing with safety vent and pressure safety disc
  • BMS at module and battery level, developed to ASIL C automotive standards
  • Integrated cooling for performance in high ambient and water temperatures
  • Waterproof to IP67; rugged design for high-speed boats with high shock loads
  • Nine-year capacity warranty for recreational use

Safety concept

  • Hardware backup for all safety-relevant BMS components
  • Individually welded cells or modules with multiple safety mechanisms
  • Cells from manufacturers in Japan and the USA

Capacity loss over time is about 2–4% per year at 25°C ambient.
