Flap Rudders
Flap rudders producing more side force than classic rudders of equal size, in bulbous, medium and slim profiles for low to high speeds; for newbuild and retrofit, ice-class compliant.
Description
Neuver Flap Rudders produce more side force than a classic rudder of equivalent size. They can be used to reduce overall rudder area while keeping equal lift, or wherever high manoeuvrability is required. Rudders can be optimised for higher speeds, and the leading edge can be twisted to improve efficiency and cavitation characteristics. Suitable for newbuilds and retrofits.
Profiles
- Flap Bulbous – low to medium speeds; extreme low-speed manoeuvring performance
- Flap Medium – medium speeds; high manoeuvring performance and propulsive efficiency
- Flap Slim – high speeds; high propulsion performance with a high-strength flap mechanism
Support types
- Direct Trunk Support – no rudder size limitation, aft ship optimisation
- Neck Bearing Support – robust, simple maintenance for vessels not needing direct trunk support
- Heel Support – full spade benefits with enhanced stability; durable in ice and protects the propeller from foreign objects
Trunk configurations
- Standard: basic design for hull integration
- Standard with steering gear foundation: fits all KM steering gear
- Extended: minimum installation time, optional fairwater and hull plating
Key features
- Open water, nozzle and ice-class compliant
- No rudder angle limitation
- Promas solution with twisted leading edge
- Rudder Health Monitoring
- Custom-built to fit the vessel
