System types
- Manual hydraulic steering – driven entirely by the steering wheel pushing hydraulic oil to the steering cylinder; smooth, reliable and simple to install
- Electric power steering
- Full hydraulic power-assisted steering – a power-assisted (servo) cylinder with oil routed through the servo valve, requiring fewer wheel turns hard over; compact and low maintenance
- Electronic steering – fully electronic control, suited to large vessels with multiple control stations
- Electronic tie bar / DP interface – multi-station electronic control for two independent rudders, with electronic and hydraulic backup and DP, joystick and autopilot integration
