Kobelt Hydraulic Steering Systems

Kobelt Hydraulic Steering Systems use hydraulic pressure to move the rudder, reducing steering effort, and are simple to install on most vessels. Kobelt steering components can be combined into complete electronic or hydraulic steering systems. Kobelt's Sentinel Series tillers and steering cylinders are designed to meet IMO requirements and are type approved by class societies including ABS, BV and LR.

System types

• Manual hydraulic steering – the steering wheel drives hydraulic oil to the steering cylinder; smooth, reliable and inexpensive to install
• Full hydraulic power-assisted steering – a power-assisted (servo) cylinder with oil routed through the servo valve, requiring fewer wheel turns; compact and low maintenance

• 7800 Sentinel Series cylinders – 2000 psi (138 bar); bore 2.5"/3.5"/4.5" (63.5/88.9/114.3 mm); stroke 10" (254 mm) to 24" (609.6 mm)
• 4605 hydraulic power-assist cylinder – non-follow-up, actuated by Kobelt push-pull controls; 4, 6 and 8 inch strokes; stainless steel, brass and aluminum
• 7065-SB power assist cylinder – 1500 psi (103 bar), bore 2.50" (63.5 mm), stroke 7.50" (190.5 mm) to 16.00" (406.4 mm)
• 7085-S power assist cylinder – 1000 psi (69 bar), bore 3.50" (88.9 mm), stroke 10.00" (254 mm) to 20.00" (508 mm)
• 7147 compact power assist cylinder – bore 2.00" (50.8 mm), stroke 7.5" (190.5 mm) to 12.00" (304.8 mm)
