mtu Factory Remanufactured Engines (Core Exchange)

mtu factory remanufactured engine exchange program: replace your existing unit with a remanufactured one and return the original core for credit based on its technical condition, with total cost and time defined up front.

Description

mtu Factory Remanufactured Solutions let operators replace existing mtu equipment with a factory remanufactured unit instead of waiting for an overhaul. The original core is returned for a credit based on its technical condition, and total cost and time are provided up front. Swing engines are available if extended service requires the engine to be removed. Remanufactured equipment receives model-related updates during the process, and reuse of end-of-life products reduces raw material use, waste and CO2 emissions.

Remanufacturing process

  • Disassembly and cleaning – complete engine disassembly; paint and rust removed from all parts
  • Investigation – on-site lab analysis of fluids and materials; measurement and inspection of all parts against factory tolerance and wear limits; crack testing of relevant parts; identification of modernisation requirements; optional documentation of findings
  • Reworking – machining with series production processes to like-new tolerances; supplier components such as crankshafts, coolers, heat exchanger inserts and couplings remanufactured with original manufacturers or certified, audited sub-suppliers
  • Reassembly – remanufactured parts plus new wear parts (gaskets, seals, bolts, screws); current tools, specifications and drawings; documented key dimensions; design and model-related updates where applicable
  • Acceptance testing – test run with order-specific peripheral settings replicating difficult field conditions (e.g. extreme temperatures); documentation of engine values; optional customer/classification society participation
  • Final preparations – priming, painting and commercial, seaworthy or long-term packaging/preservation
