The Power Systems business unit of Rolls-Royce is headquartered in Friedrichshafen, Germany, and sells its drive, propulsion and power generation systems under the mtu brand. The company states that it has provided power solutions for over 110 years and that mtu systems power the largest yachts and the strongest tugboats.

Besides commercial marine, yacht and marine defense, the business serves power generation, oil & gas, mining, rail and land defense customers. Its systems are based on gas and diesel engines as well as electrified hybrid systems, and the unit describes its direction as a move from engine manufacturer to provider of integrated and sustainable energy solutions.

Dr. Jörg Stratmann has been President of the business unit since November 2022; he chairs the board of Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG and is Managing Director of Rolls-Royce Solutions GmbH.
