Steerable thruster with an embedded permanent magnet or asynchronous electric motor, for DP, station keeping and propulsion of electric and hybrid vessels such as SOVs, PSVs, tugs and ferries.
Description
The Wärtsilä WST-18E is a steerable thruster with an embedded electric motor, offering energy-efficient propulsion with strong dynamic positioning, station keeping, manoeuvring and thrust performance. It is aimed at vessels with electric propulsion.
Key features
- Small footprint: the embedded permanent magnet or asynchronous e-motor minimises height, allowing installation in height-restricted spaces such as below the working deck
- VGP2013-compliant or optional zero-pollution sealing systems
- Optional 8° tilted propeller gearbox to reduce thrust loss from interaction with the hull and other thrusters
- Optional fast electric steering and gears optimised for fast power ramp-up for demanding DP and station keeping
