Mecc Alte HVi Insulation System for X-Type Alternators
True class H+ HVi insulation system for Mecc Alte X-Type MV/HV alternators: epoxy/mica, up to 15.75 kV, thermal index 191.8°C, API approved, with optional protective enamel for marine environments.
Description
The Mecc Alte HVi insulation system is used on the X-Type series of medium and high voltage alternators, developed with Von Roll. It is based on low-viscosity, VOC-free class H epoxy resin with mica tapes and fibreglass mechanical protection, giving insulation voltage up to 15.75 kV. It is used in Oil & Gas, gensets, marine applications and heavy industry.

Testing
- Tested for 18 months to IEC 60034-18-31 and IEEE 1776 at Von Roll laboratories, with ageing cycles at 200–240°C plus vibration, humidity and high voltage tests
- Thermal index of 191.8°C (class H = 180°C); continuous PRP operation at class H for more than 50,000 h
Vibration analysis
Mecc Alte uses operating deflection shape (ODS) and modal analysis in design. Measurements on an MTU 20V4000G63 / ECO 49MV-L genset were used to build a virtual test bench now used to develop families such as the ECO47.
