BWXT Naval Nuclear Propulsion
Naval nuclear reactors and reactor components for U.S. Navy submarines (Ohio, Virginia, Seawolf, Los Angeles, Columbia classes) and Nimitz and Ford-class aircraft carriers.
Description
BWXT Naval Nuclear Propulsion covers the design and manufacture of naval nuclear reactors and reactor components for the U.S. Navy. BWXT's work in naval propulsion dates to components for USS Nautilus, the first nuclear-powered submarine; submarine reactors are designed to last the boat's lifetime, and carrier reactors require a single mid-life refueling.
