Electronically controlled unit pump (UPS) and unit injector (UIS) diesel injection systems with up to 1,800 bar injection pressure for large engines in ships, generators, locomotives and dump trucks.
Description
The Bosch unit pump system (UPS) and unit injector system (UIS) are diesel injection systems for large engines. The UPS consists of an electronically controlled unit pump and a nozzle holder assembly connected via a precisely adapted high-pressure line; the UIS is a nozzle holder assembly with an integrated high-pressure pump.
Operating principle
One injection pump is fitted per engine cylinder. The pump piston is fitted in the cylinder with such precision that high injection pressure is achieved even at low speeds. A 2/2-way solenoid valve closes against the high-pressure circuit, so injection start and duration – determined by the camshaft profile – can be adapted as required. The nozzle holder assembly is selected to match delivery rate, spray form and injection pressure.
