Bergen Medium-Speed Engines and Generating Sets

Bergen medium-speed gas and liquid-fuel engines and gensets: marine B36:45, B33:45, C26:33 and C25:33 series from 1.4 to 9.6 MW, plus land gensets up to 11.8 MW with Marelli Motori alternators.

Description

Bergen Engines medium-speed engines and generating sets run on natural gas or liquid fuel and are used for marine propulsion and power generation as well as land-based power plants. Marine gas engines feature variable valve timing, individual cylinder pressure monitoring and variable turbo geometry for low NOx, CO2, SOx and particulate emissions; liquid-fuel engines combine efficiency and fast load response in a service-friendly package.

Marine engine range

  • B36:45V – natural gas, 6.7–9.6 MW
  • B36:45L – natural gas, 3.3–5.4 MW
  • C26:33L – natural gas, 1.4–2.4 MW
  • B33:45V – liquid fuel, 7.0–7.2 MW
  • B33:45L – liquid fuel, 3.5–5.4 MW
  • C25:33L – liquid fuel, 1.9–3.0 MW

Generating sets

  • Engines from 1.4 MW to 11.8 MW paired with Marelli Motori alternators; power generation from 1,500 to 11,830 kWe per engine
  • B36:45L gas: 3.4–5.3 MW; B36:45V gas: 6.8–11.8 MW
  • B33:45L liquid fuel: 3.2–4.8 MW; B33:45V liquid fuel: 6.3–10.6 MW
  • Electrical efficiency up to 50% in open cycle; zero to full load in 3 minutes, with maintenance intervals unaffected by starts and stops

Fuel flexibility

  • Gas engines can operate on biogas and e-methane without significant modification
  • Hydrogen blends in natural gas under test; liquid-fuel engines can be converted to natural gas and increasing hydrogen proportions
