OXE Stainless Steel Outboard Propellers

Stainless steel propellers for OXE diesel outboards, sized so the engine reaches its rated wide-open-throttle RPM range under the vessel's normal load.

Description

OXE propellers are stainless steel propellers for OXE diesel outboards, designed for durability and thrust efficiency in both offshore and calm-water commercial operation.

Propeller selection

  • Correct size is based on the engine's recommended wide-open-throttle (w.o.t.) operating range, given in the OXE documentation
  • Test at w.o.t. under normal load, recording RPM and engine load %, with optimum trim
  • If the engine over-revs, increase pitch; if it cannot reach rated RPM, decrease pitch
  • Each 1" increase in pitch drops RPM by approximately 200
  • A cupped propeller of the same pitch and diameter typically reduces RPM by approximately 200 compared with an uncupped one
  • Example: operating range 4100–4300 RPM, reading 3800 RPM – decrease pitch by 2" (e.g. SOLAS 16x19 to 16x17) to reach 4200 RPM
  • Vessels with mixed duties (fishing, cruising, crew transfer) may need two propellers

Running the engine outside the rated RPM range, either over-revving or overloaded, causes wear, carbon build-up, poor fuel economy and potential cylinder and piston damage.
