Echandia Core

Echandia Core is a high-energy LTO (lithium-titanium-oxide) marine battery system for fully electric and hybrid vessels, supporting 3C charge/discharge rates and system voltages up to 1,500 V.

Description

Echandia Core is a high-energy marine battery system built on lithium-titanium-oxide (LTO) cell technology. It is designed for both fully electric and hybrid vessel applications, with minimal degradation and predictable performance over the system lifetime.

Key features

  • LTO cell chemistry with consistent performance throughout the system lifetime
  • Fast charging: 3C charge and discharge rates
  • Modular scalability using one standardized cell type for a simplified system architecture
  • High-voltage design supporting system configurations of up to 1,500 V, giving lower current and lower losses
  • Positioned at around 30% lower upfront cost than other LTO solutions (maker's figure)

Operating profile

Echandia Core targets energy-demanding operations such as fully electric vessels, and hybrid configurations requiring extended reserve capacity, with an operating profile of five to 10 cycles per day. It can serve as the primary energy source for many full electric operations.

Applications

  • Full electric propulsion
  • Spinning reserve
  • Peak shaving
  • Load leveling
  • Backup power (UPS)

Typical vessel types include ferries and RoRo vessels, container ships and tankers.
