Thordon Water Quality Package
Thordon Water Quality Package supplies seawater to propeller shaft bearings at 0.15 l/min/mm (1 US gpm/in) of shaft diameter and removes solids over 100 microns (80 microns with the 75–150 l/min unit). Has a flow alarm and can integrate with ship systems.
Description
The Thordon Water Quality Package supplies seawater to water-lubricated propeller shaft bearings for lubrication and cooling, and filters the water before it reaches them.
Key features
- Minimum flow of 0.15 litre/minute/mm (1 US gallon/minute/inch) of shaft diameter
- Removes suspended solids larger than 100 microns (0.004 in.) with a specific gravity of 1.2 or higher
- Separation down to 80 microns (0.003 in.) with the 75–150 l/min (20–40 GPM) unit
- Flow alarm warns of low water flow to the bearings
- Runs stand-alone or fully integrated with the ship's control and monitoring system, for unmanned machinery spaces
Configurations
- Three package configurations to suit a wide range of shaft sizes and to give the right degree of redundancy for each vessel
- Special arrangements for specific installations can be developed with integrators, designers and builders
