QuayPower Shore Power System

QuayPower containerised shore-to-ship power conversion system for vessels from workboats and ferries to OSVs and container ships; scalable from a few hundred kW manual to multi-MW automated, with optional energy storage.

Description

QuayPower™ is a modular, scalable, containerised power conversion system from MJR Power & Automation that supplies shore power and charging to vessels in port, from workboats and ferries to offshore support vessels and container ships.

Key features

  • Installs on an existing quayside without dedicated switch rooms; containerised for relocation
  • Scales from a few hundred kW with manual cable connection to multi-MW fully automated systems
  • Optional energy storage and microgrid with mixed sources (solar, wind, wave/tidal, grid, diesel backup) for weak-grid or remote sites, charging slowly while the vessel is at sea and releasing higher power in port
  • Integration with port networks, local generation, energy recovery and grid support services
  • Remote visualisation, data analytics, energy usage billing and remote diagnostics via an onshore/offshore power and charging portal
  • Support for integration with ship electrical networks and classification society compliance

How it works

  • Connector deployment system plugs the ship in (manual, semi- or fully automated, controlled from bridge or quayside)
  • Converter synchronises with the ship's network and connects in parallel with the ship's generators
  • Ship's diesel generators are gradually unloaded and disconnected, giving bumpless transfer to shore power and back

Benefits

  • Lower operating, maintenance and servicing costs
  • Silent operation and zero emissions of gases, soot and particles in port
