Cavotec E-Vessel Charging Systems
Cavotec plug-in charging systems for electric vessels: Megawatt Charging System up to 4.5 MW per connector, automated plug-in systems (PowerRamp, PowerAdapt, PowerDrop) and manual systems (PowerRun, PowerReach).
Description
Cavotec E-Vessel Charging Systems are shore-to-ship plug-in solutions for charging battery-electric and hybrid vessels, ranging from manual connections to fully automated systems. Cavotec has developed plug-in charging since 2014 and its technology has enabled electric operation of nearly 50 vessels.
Megawatt Charging System (MCS)
Based on the CharIN MCS standard for high-power DC charging. Cavotec's Level 3 MCS plug-in system delivers up to 4.5 MW through a single connector.

Automated plug-in systems
For high call frequency, short turnaround times or power transfer typically above 1 MW:
- PowerRamp – installed on the vessel's ramp, for bow connections
- PowerAdapt – flexible bow or side connection
- PowerDrop – for vessels berthing alongside quays with large tidal variation
Manual plug-in systems
For lower power needs or more operational flexibility, e.g. tugboats and small passenger ferries:
- PowerRun – flexible for different vessel types and connection points
- PowerReach – fast connection, often completed in a few minutes
Applications
Electric ferries, passenger vessels, tugs and other battery-powered craft; systems are designed for harsh maritime environments.
