Autonav Type P Electro-Hydraulic Steering Systems
Autonav Type P electro-hydraulic steering gear using paired double-acting cylinders on one or more tillers, with engine- or electrically-driven pump sets and control systems from bridge to rudder; complies with class rules.
Description
The Autonav Type P electro-hydraulic steering system uses a pair of double-acting cylinders coupled to one or more tillers to develop rudder torque. Engine-driven or electrically-driven pump sets supply hydraulic flow and pressure to move the rudder and hold it against rudder loads, and a range of control systems generate steering commands and monitor operation, forming a complete system from bridge to rudder.
Key features
- Double-acting cylinders with self-aligning bearings for balanced rudder torque, minimal alignment requirements and resistance to hull distortion
- Continued steering in case of a single fault failure
- No cylinder tie rods, for strength, easier servicing and corrosion resistance
- Integral, adjustable rudder stops rated beyond Rules requirements, with balanced stopping forces (4 TM and larger)
- No metal-to-metal contact; oversized bearings for long life
- Every system tested for severe service
Approvals
Designs comply with all international classification societies.
