Escher Wyss controllable pitch propellers

Escher Wyss controllable pitch propellers from ANDRITZ Hydro for naval and coast guard vessels, mega yachts and special vessels, featuring a double trunnion bearing design, small hub ratio and low pressure pulses.

Description

Escher Wyss controllable pitch propellers (CPP), supplied by ANDRITZ Hydro, are tailor-made CPP systems for naval and coast guard vessels, mega yachts and other special-application vessels. Designs balance propulsion efficiency, low noise, flexibility and speed, and propeller performance is verified at independent international model basins.

Key features

  • Exclusive trunnion bearing system with double bearing, used by Escher Wyss for turbines and CPPs
  • Smaller hub-to-propeller ratio than conventional CPP designs, supporting low-noise blades and high efficiency
  • Blade and trunnion cast in one piece; smooth blade root without bolt pockets, delaying root cavitation inception by up to six knots
  • Advanced wake field adapted design (AWAD), very low pressure pulses and extended cavitation inception speed (CIS)
  • Hub shape designed for minimum resistance and delayed hub vortex cavitation
  • Large hydraulic servomotor piston with long stroke for precise pitch control at relatively low hydraulic pressure
  • Suitable for dynamic positioning requirements

Options

  • High-skew blades for mega yachts and naval vessels, with pressure pulse amplitudes below 1 kPa achievable
  • 7-bladed propellers, including air emission system, for the most demanding noise and vibration requirements

Service
