VEEM Extreme Flow-Aligned Rudder

Twisted-profile rudder with NACA foil sections, cast and CNC-machined in VEEM Extreme alloy; 72% less drag than parallel-plate rudders, with +0.25 knots and 6.2% lower fuel burn in witnessed trials.

Description

The VEEM Extreme flow-aligned rudder uses advanced NACA foil sections, cast and CNC-machined in VEEM's high-strength Extreme alloy. It is engineered to work as part of the VEEM Extreme propulsion system together with VEEM Extreme propellers.

Key features

  • Twisted profile aligned with the propeller slipstream for consistent loading, cleaner water flow and improved handling, particularly at higher speeds
  • 72% less drag than standard parallel-plate rudders
  • Fully CNC-machined in high-tensile VEEM Extreme alloy

Performance

  • Speed increase of 0.25 knots and 6.2% reduction in fuel burn in trials witnessed by Lloyd's Register
  • Combined with VEEM Extreme propellers: up to 18.1% fuel burn reduction versus a Class 1 propeller and flat-plate rudder

Applications

Retrofit or newbuild on motor yachts, sportfishing boats, ferries and other vessels using VEEM propulsion systems.
