Geislinger Gesilco® Shaftline

One-piece carbon fibre composite shaftline with integrated flange, about 50% lighter than steel, up to 12 m long and 1–700 kNm torque; available as complete packages with bearings and bulkhead seals.

Description

The Geislinger GESILCO® Shaftline is a lightweight, maintenance-free drive shaft system made of advanced composite material, produced in one piece with an integrated fibre flange connection. Complete shaftline packages with bearings, bulkhead seals and GESILCO® composite misalignment couplings are available.

Key features

  • Approximately 50% lighter than steel shaft solutions
  • Lower density gives higher critical speeds and allows twice the spacing between support bearings
  • Stiffness adjustable through fibre orientation; tailored for power, length, bending and torsional stiffness
  • Low, almost linear reaction forces and high shock capability for high-speed vessels
  • Electrically insulating and almost non-magnetic
  • Optional fire-resistant outer layer; combined with a sprinkler system, SOLAS fire resistance requirements can be met without additional housing

Technical data

  • Torque range: 1 kNm – 700 kNm
  • Diameters: 80 mm – 1,200 mm
  • Length: up to 12 m
  • Ambient temperature: -45°C to 100°C

Applications

Marine propulsion (mechanical and hybrid drivelines, z-drives, azimuth thrusters, PTO/PTI systems with FiFi pumps), power generation, wind power, off-highway and industrial applications.
