ERMA FIRST ESD
FLEXCAP, FLEXRING and FLEXFINS propeller energy saving devices that raise propulsive efficiency and support EEXI and CII compliance.
Description
The ERMA FIRST ESD range comprises FLEXCAP, FLEXRING and FLEXFINS, each with a bespoke design for the vessel. The devices aim to improve EEXI and CII performance, reduce fuel consumption and operating expenses, increase propulsive efficiency and improve engine load, wear and part lifecycle.
FLEXCAP reduces hub vortex formation, cavitation and noise. It is made of NiAlBronze, the same material as the propeller, at about 23%-25% of the propeller diameter and roughly 3% of the propeller weight, so shaft alignment does not need recalculating. FLEXRING guides flow toward the propeller to improve propulsive efficiency and can develop some thrust on the duct; with optional fins aligned properly it creates a pre-swirl effect.
