VULKAN Group

The VULKAN Group has six production sites, 50 sales companies and around 1,600 employees at more than 18 locations worldwide. It is organised in three divisions: Marine, Industry and Energy, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. The holding company, Hackforth Holding GmbH & Co. KG, is based in Herne, Germany.

The company has been owned solely by the Hackforth family since 1889. Its history began with Maschinenfabrik Louis Schwarz in Dortmund, which produced a clutch that could be activated under load, the start of VULKAN couplings. A merger later created Dortmunder VULKAN AG, and engineer Bernhard Hackforth Sr founded Maschinenfabrik Hackforth & Co. in Herne.

The group works under the slogan that it ensures that systems work better, offering solutions tailored to customer systems.
