Selva Marine

Italian maker of outboard motors for leisure and professional boats.

Tirano, Sondrio · Company

About

Selva has been active since 1945, when it made components for the Lambretta Innocenti scooter at Sesto San Giovanni, just outside Milan. In 1959 the founder, Lorenzo Selva Sr., moved the growing production of outboard engines to a new factory in Tirano, in the Valtellina area on the Italian-Swiss border, where the head office and main factory of Selva S.p.A. remain.

The company describes itself as the only European producer with a complete production cycle for outboard motor components: die-casting, machining, thermal and anti-corrosion treatments, a four-stage coating process, assembly and testing. It obtained ISO 9001 certification in May 2004.

Selva is a family business managed by the third generation. Its outboards are distributed mainly in Europe and the Mediterranean area, and the family has a background in motorboat racing engines.
