About

Leroy-Somer is a French alternator and motor brand that belongs to the Nidec Group. Since 2024 the alternator activity has been part of Nidec Power, a go-to-market brand that unites three Nidec entities: Leroy-Somer, Kato Engineering and Houma Armature Works.

Nidec Power reports more than 6,000 employees across 12 sites worldwide and works with generator manufacturers and power producers in sectors such as marine, defense, telecommunications, data centers, cogeneration and hydropower. Its published references include the cruise ship Harmony of the Seas and the tuna purse seiner Franche Terre.

A global service network handles electrical and mechanical interventions on alternators. The European sites hold ISO 14001 certification and an EcoVadis Silver label. Leroy-Somer electric motors and drives are presented separately by the Nidec motors organization.
