Danish maker of controllable-pitch propeller systems.

About

The company traces its origin to 1921, when blacksmith August Jørgensen and engineer Johannes Højsgaard set up a joint machine workshop at the harbour in Hundested, Denmark. The first propulsion engine was built in 1926, and small reversible propellers followed from 1933.

It became Hundested Motorfabrik A/S in 1938 and built Hundested engines, mainly for the fishing industry, until engine production ended in 1990. As propellers, bow thrusters and gears grew in importance the name changed to Hundested Motor & Propellerfabrik A/S in 1977 and later to Hundested Propeller A/S.

The company is still based in Hundested, at Stadionvej 4, and the site presents it as part of the BSI Marine Equipment Group alongside brands such as Gori Propeller and Jefa Steering. In the USA it is represented by Hundested Propeller US, LLC in Seattle.
