Azimuth Thrusters for Zentech Z-210 Offshore Unit
Houston based Thrustmaster of Texas, Inc. will be supplying the azimuth thrusters for Zentech’s new Z-210 Mobile Offshore Unit.
The thrusters are driven by electric motors powered by a redundant power system from GE Marine Solutions. The thrusters will be ABS classed for main propulsion and DP-2 dynamic positioning of the vessel, which is currently under construction at CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding in China.
Zentech’s Z-210 is one of the most versatile designs in the industry, capable of a full range of duties from a conventional lift or heavy lift crane vessel to an offshore drilling or offshore coil tubing work and accommodations vessel. The Z-210 is a self-propelled, self-elevating, DP-2 capable, ABS Class, high temperature (55 deg Celsius) rated 4-legged mobile offshore unit capable of operating in water depths ranging from 13 feet to 280 feet. Scheduled for delivery in Q1 2018, the Z-210 addresses the growing needs for lift-boats in the Middle East, South East Asia, and Far East markets. The vessel has accommodations for 150 people, has 1,200 square meters of usable deck space and a variable load capacity of up to 2,250 metric tonnes.
Now, fitted with its four powerful Thrustmaster azimuth thrusters, it will transit and position itself under its own power, at up to 6 knots, without the need for tug boats. This will result in a significant cost reduction for operators, as well as greatly enhance the safety of the platforms during the initial positioning of the vessel.
