Candela

Candela was started in 2014, when founder Gustav Hasselskog gathered a team of experts to make electric boats that perform better than fossil-fuelled ones. The vessels are designed and made in Sweden, and the company states a team of over 200 people from more than 20 nationalities.

The stated mission is to build the most efficient electric boats and ferries using hydrofoil technology, intelligent software and clean propulsion, with the purpose of speeding up the transition to fossil fuel-free lakes and oceans.

The P-12 is described as the first long-range, high-speed electric hydrofoil ferry, using 80% less energy than traditional vessels. A P-12 named Nova is in service in public transport in Stockholm.
