FDNY Honors 9/11 Hero Feehan at Boat Christening
November 20, 2015 (New York) -- Today at Pier 16 in lower Manhattan the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) honored William M. Feehan by christening and commissioning of the new fireboat William M. Feehan. Captain Louis Guzzo led the ceremonies which included a number of dignitaries from in and around the FDNY. William M. Feehan was a FDNY firefighter lost in the September 11 World Trade Center attacks.

Offshore: Modern Crewboat Delivered to Brazil Supply
Fast, capable crewboat design and construction continues to be a leading edge niche in the global marine market, the latest manifestation being the BS Camburi, a 36-meter monohull crewboat built in Brazil by Arpoador Engenharia to the Petrobras type P2 specification, for Brazil Supply. Incat Crowther designed the boat. The vessel’s aft main deck features a large open deck, separated for two main purposes. The aft portion, measuring 60.5m2, is dedicated to a man-riding basket.

High Tech Towboat: LNG-Powered Design Gets ABS Approval in Principle
Conrad Shipyard and The Shearer Group, Inc. (TSGI) said that its design of a 4,200 horsepower LNG-powered towboat received “Approval in Principle” (AIP) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The boat is based on TSGI’s azimuth drive (Z-drive) towboat design that debuted in 2008 as the FRANK T. STEGBAUER. To date, eight of these towboats have been built for Southern Towing Company, which is a pioneer in the use of z-drives for brown water operations.

Emissions Scrubber Tech for Exmar LPG Carriers
Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction, Korea, is building a pair of new LPG carriers for Exmar, which is a Belgian energy logistics company with an existing LPG fleet of around 30 vessels. U.S. Shipbuilding: ESG Nabs Two Z-Drive Tug Contracts
Eastern Shipbuilding (ESG) said that Suderman & Young Towing Company and Bay Houston Towing Company each exercised one additional Z-Drive Tug to be built at ESG. This brings the total to six of the new Robert Allan, Ltd. Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs built at ESG's Panama City, FL facilities. Carnival to Drydock 32 Ships by 1H 2016
In the quest meet stringent new emissions regulations, cruise industry major Carnival Corp. earlier this month reached an agreement in principle with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Coast Guard to develop its own advanced emission control technology to be used in waters surrounding U.S. coasts.
